Aftercare
directly after our appointment, i’ll send you home in either glad wrap or second skin (depending on area or if i have any on hand). check out aftercare instructions for each option.
-
please remove plastic wrap two hours after application and wash with a fragrance free/anti-bacterial soap. wash gently and gently pat dry with a fresh, clean roll of paper towel.
do not apply any aftercare ointments or creams for at least 24hrs after the appointment.
wash gently at least twice a day, or as needed (please be careful about irritating the tattoo as it is an open wound)
apply extremely thin layers of your preferred aftercare treatment once or twice daily for two weeks. i would recommend inky tattoo salve, vitamin e cream or a VERY thin layer of bepanthen tattoo cream. please ensure your tattoo is clean and dry before application.
-
leave on for at most three days, take off immediately if experiencing any reactions (itchiness, excess redness). take off immediately if any plasma or ink is leaking from the second skin bandage.
take the second skin bandage off in the shower with the water not directly hitting your tattoo. pull down instead of out to ensure your second skin catches on itself instead of immediately splitting.
wash your tattoo gently with a fragrance free anti-bacterial soap.
do not apply any aftercare ointments or creams for at least 24hrs after taking off the second skin.
wash gently at least twice a day, or as needed (please be careful about irritating the tattoo as it is an open wound)
apply extremely thin layers of your preferred aftercare treatment once or twice daily for two weeks. i would recommend inky tattoo salve, vitamin e cream or a VERY thin layer of bepanthen tattoo cream. please ensure your tattoo is clean and dry before application.
regardless of what covering i have sent you home with, there are some standard aftercare instructions.
no submerging your tattoo in water for two weeks (no oceans, swimming pools, spas or baths)
no scratching, itching or picking at the tattoo while it heals
keep the tattoo out of the sun as much as possible before it is healed enough to put sunscreen on it
please try to avoid heavy drinking directly after a tattoo as it has potential to negatively affect the healing process.
that being said, sometimes it is inevitable that a tattoo heals less than perfect (regardless of the effort of you or i!). please reach out via instagram or my enquiry form to book a free touch-up.
